3 Tips - Change Management Job Application

How to 10 X your application:
1. Tailor your CV
- Don't send a generic CV that isn't conscious of what the job is actually asking for.
- Make sure you go and read the job description, customise your CV, cover letter, the whole shebang.
- Sometimes looking for a job is a full-time job. You want to be one of the first people to apply so that your CV gets SEEN. So if you're in that position at the moment, then make looking for a job your full-time job so you can get it in the bag and land that change role.
- Ensure you CV is outcomes focused and reflected the value you added and outcomes you delivered (quantify this if possible).
2. Sort out your digital profile
- I'd also recommend updating your Seek.com.au profile, making sure that everything is nice and schmick online.
- Turn on all of your job notifications on LinkedIn and Seek as well.
- So LinkedIn now has this great feature where you can add 'skills' against each role so go ahead and update that. LinkedIn now shows the percentage matches your skills are aligned to different job roles. This will make it easier for hiring managers to connect the dots and make sure that you're the right person for the role.
3. What's your secret star power?
- If someone has the same experience as you, why should someone hire you over the other person?
- What is your zone of genius? What is your secret star power? What will you bring to the role that's different from someone else? Ensure that shines through in your CV and your application.
- 👉Particularly in the profile section of your CV which will be the first part of your CV that someone reads.
Now, if you want to set yourself apart from the rest, I recommend you conduct some professional development while you're looking for your next role. This is a great time to be building your skills and staying up-to-date.
Use this time to build practical, tangible skills that are going to set you apart from other change practitioners and people looking for roles, whether you're junior or new to change or a senior veteran out there as well.
